Final English post

Reading: for me, reading was a punishment, I hate reading. I always assume books are boring before I even start them. Although there were a couple of books this year that I did like that made reading easier and more fun. But still I DO NOT like to read and I would never chose reading as a 'fun' activity.

Blogging: Blogging was okay but still very stressful. It was hard to remember the dates, however I only missed one blog!! Blogging wasn't as bad as everybody claims it is. It was more fun when we got to say what we wanted to (like this one) instead of just talking about a book that no one even cares about your opinion on.

English Freshman year: words can't even express how much I'm going to miss my English class and teacher so much!! English was one of the 2 classes that I actually enjoyed going to! And it was even better that my class wasn't boring, we may be loud but we are bot boring!!!! Amyways, freshman year was so much better because of this class. I have definitely made some amazing life long friends in their and I hope to see all again:)
P.S. this wouldn't allow me to put the pictures in that I wanted to.

The Great Gatsby

So, For my last book of my freshman year I decided to pick something a little harder and so I chose, The Great Gatsby. AND IT IS DIFFICULT. But it is also amazing. Now I saw the movie before I read the book and there are similarities but there are also quite a bit of differences. Although I like them both, if I had to choose one as a favorite, I would have to say the book, and I'm not even finished with it yet. Anyways, I'd say I'm about half way through it and I love it. So far you have met most of the characters and I'm just now getting to the part where Gatsby and Daisy meet again for the first time since forever ago. Gatsby is a nervous wreck and it's kind of funny, he is trying to make everything is perfect and Daisy doesn't even know that she is going to see Gatsby. She thinks she was just invited to go have tea and catch up with her cousin (which is the main character by the way). It's a great book and probably my favorite that I have ever read ever. It takes a couple chapters to get into it but it's totally worth it. And although there is a lot of big vocabulary in it, it makes a lot of sense when you look them up. I recommend this book to EVERYONE!!! It is amazing and I think we read it junior year anyways but I'm looking forward to the unit!

Something to remember for Thanksgiving, Mary Schmich

Grateful, "We don't have money. But we are not poor. Poverty is a state of money." this is to make us feel grateful for what we have. To be thankful for everything you have and that you probably have a pretty awesome life. The purpose of the column was to make people think and reflect on their life "This week begins the official giving season, a season that also comes with wishing, expecting." the author uses the words "bankrupt" and "broke" to make the reader think of how bad it must be for them. It is telling us that we need to be thankful for what we have to work together to help others in need. And to spread kindness to everyone.

So, I am still reading this book Speak but, I am close to the end. I really do like this book but, it was not my favorite book that I have ever read - understandable right? If you read my other blog post about this book you would know mainly what the books about and how I feel about it and why people should read it. If not, Speak is about this teenage girl going into her Freshman year of high school and she is struggling to reach the end of it - relatable to pretty much all of us right now, correct? Anyways, this girl is having a hard time fitting in and she lost her main group of friends so now she is by herself well accept for a girl from Ohio. Anyways I'm not going to say much more about it because I want people to read it for themselves. So now that I am pretty much done with that book, I need a new to read for the last book for English 1. If anyone has any ideas of books that you think are good or that I might like please let me know because; I. Am. Lost.

Speak

So, now I have started a new book called Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Its about this girl who is starting high school and hates it. I really like this book, it is so relatable! The 'chapters' are actually just what she thinks about each part of her day at school. It's really cool and I think that every high school girl should read it, I mean guys can read it to but it just is kind of a girl-based book.

New book?

So, I am still reading An Abundance of Katherines by John Green. I really don't like it that much, it seems like the same thing is happening over and love again, but I finished it. I would like to say that I know everything about the book but truth is....not so much. Although I finished it, I didn't get into very much because it wasn't intriguing to me. I didn't really get some of the information. I don't have anything against this book and I think it was written very well but it just didn't give me that same feel of being pulled into a book as The Fault in our Stars did. Feel free to let me know what you think about it and if you have any suggestions for books because now I have no idea what to read...

Dover beach

Dover Beach was kind of confusing to me. It was swaying my emotions and thoughts about the poem and it kind of made me think about life or some other environment type thing. Like on the outside most of everything even looks pretty but when you look closer it has little weaknesses and flaws. The little things that matter the most to some people and get to everyone in different ways. Kind of like the story in Farenheit 451 when the woman started crying and nobody knew why, not even her. The story reached deep down in her and pulled out these emotions that she didn't even know she had. And it surprised her and made her think back on her life and what she really wants out of it. But yea this is what I got out of this.

In the Abundance of Katherines Colon has decided to go on a little road trip to nowhere. This trip is kind of to get his mind off of Katherine but I'm pretty sure that it is not working. All he thinks about is Katherine. He claims to be looking for a job but really he is looking for a new Katherine. Supposedly he need her to get his mind off of the old Katherine. Out with the old and in with the new I guess. And he is really pick the girl has to be named Katherine. Not Catherine but Katherine... With a k. On the trip there is no stopping, maybe only for s place to sleep but otherwise, it is a full on driving session. Just driving across the country to get his mind off of this girl and off of the world, which he still feels like he doesn't belong to.
